The Silver Top Taxi Booking application enables you to book a taxi directly from your mobile. Booking requests are sent directly to dispatch, bypassing the call centre and sent straight to the vehicle, means the taxi you booked gets to you as quickly and as conveniently as possible.

Project Brief

To date, Silvertop Taxis has been a roaring success with over 60,000 downloads and close to 150,000 completed bookings to date.

Gone are the days of being put on hold for minutes on end and the stress of not knowing if you would make your flight on time as you wait for your cab. The Silver Top Taxi app creates a direct line into the cab, making bookings faster and more efficient for the user.

Think about being able to pick-up your mobile, punch a couple of buttons and voila: your cab is booked! At a glance you will know where your cab is. You won’t need to stick your head out of your apartment window or wait in the rain; a text message will notify you when the cab is out the front so you can sit comfortably in your living room while you wait.

This is what the Silver Top Taxis mobile application does for you. No more calling, no more waiting on hold and no more guessing where your cab is. This simple mobile booking engine connects you straight to the in car dispatch system, resulting to a quick and easy way to book taxis specially during heavy periods such as Friday or Saturday nights.

Project Innovation / Need

Silver Top Taxis is one of Australia’s largest Taxi operators with over 1700 cabs on its fleet. The taxi network provides a range of services, from basic shuttle needs to city tours lead by the company’s knowledgeable drivers.

Traditional booking such as phoning a call centre created not only an expensive operational bottle neck, but also a hotspot for negative customer experience with the delays in call and the opportunity for human error. Recognizing these concerns, Silver Top approached JMango about using mobile apps to streamline the booking process probability of using a mobile application to solve the issues and provide a future platform that was simple, convenient and quick for their customers.

Working with Silver Top and its partners, JMango created an end-to-end taxi booking application for all mobile devices that was deployed within Silver Top’s existing IT infrastructure, and integrated directly to the MTData dispatch system. By bypassing the call centre, the bookings are sent directly to the in car dispatch system, reducing both operational overhead and error margins while also making the booking process more efficient.

The application was developed using JMango’s patented mobile development platform, making it available for almost every mobile device in the market in record time and at a fraction of the cost.

User Experience

The Silver Top Taxi application addresses key points where traditional booking systems fall short by breaking down the barriers and bottle necks commonly associated with booking a cab. It serves as a great convenience for the end user as bookings that traditionally took up 5mins+ to complete were now being completed in seconds!

The application also gives users more options when booking their cabs. They can book in advance for a later time and place for example, or send special instructions to the cab driver. When the driver arrives, the application can send the user a text message, there is no longer any need to wait outside; you can do it in your living room!

The Silver Top Taxi app was created with the end user in mind. That is why JMango and Silver Top continue to work together in bringing in new improvements based on user feedback. The continues improvement has been a factor in the application’s growing success.

Some key highlights:
• Each month, over 8,000 people use the application regularly.
• Close to 150,000 successful bookings, saving thousands of call centre hours.
• Approximately 8,400 unique users use the service every month, many of them regulars.
• The booking process has been shortened from minutes to under 10 seconds.
• The system can handle up to 900 bookings every second, surpassing the capacity of standard dispatch systems
