Project Overview

The Wiggles’ Alphabet Adventure is designed to take children aged between two to six on an educational journey through the letters of the alphabet. After 20 years in the industry, The Wiggles continue to entertain children with their unique and engaging performances and are embracing technology as an innovative way for their young fans to further interact with them.

Project Brief

Salmat was asked to develop an engaging and interactive app for children to get familiar with the alphabet through fun exploration."Salmat has been our preferred partner on this project due to their depth of services which were not just limited to all aspects of design, development and hosting requirements, but extended to other areas including marketing and promotion" said Pablo A. Muñoz, The Wiggles Project Manager, Growth & Innovation.

Project Innovation / Need

The app is designed to help children aged between two to six years improve their communication skills by using interactive technology to access meaningful information. The abundant use of images and information during the interactive experience also makes the Wiggles' Alphabet Adventure both fun and informative.

There are unique entries for each letter from the alphabet, covering everything from fruits to animals at the zoo. “The Wiggles’ Alphabet Adventure is an exciting new app that integrates technology into children's play and encourages and enhances learning,” said Dr Kathleen Warren, Education Advisor to The Wiggles.

Choosing “Play” takes the child through the app alphabetically while the “ABC” gives the child choice of an individual letter they wish to look at. Each letter features the capital letter, a word associated with the letter and an interactive activity. The activities range from crunching an apple, making fruit salad, opening an envelope, to playing violin with appropriate sounds.

User Experience

In this iPad app children will find a colourful animated interaction for each letter of the alphabet. Children will be able to learn to identify letters and words that start with those letters and they’ll get some help from the Wiggles and their friends. The animations are fun and the app is bright and colourful. Children should enjoy playing with the different elements on the screen.

Audio by Jeff Wiggle includes voice over for each of the alphabet letters, which coupled with the interaction and animation make it a complete and unique experience for the young ones. This is an entertaining way for children to use sight, sound and touch as they use the technology to make sense of their world.
