The SLiDE mobile app developed for Fox8 was the first mobile app specifically designed for a TV show in Australia. Its aim was to create multiple opportunities to continually market the show throughout the series, keeping the audience engaged until the next episode. The SLiDE app provided the user with exclusive content such as videos, quizzes, polls surrounding the show’s characters. Push notifications were used, notifying the user when new content was available. Overall, 17% of the total SLiDE TV audience downloaded the app and its innovation was recognised by iTunes who featured it in their ‘What’s Hot’ category.

ABC iview has established its position as Australia’s most popular on-demand or catch-up TV service(Nielsen’s Online Consumer Report February 2012). With 48% of online Australians aged 16+ having accessed iview, the ABC’s internet television service continues to reach Australians in record numbers, through innovative new ways. In June 2012, iview measured a new record of 9.1m program plays that month across all platforms, and extended its reach to millions of Australian mobile devices with the launch of ABC iview on iPhone and iPod Touch, with streaming made available for the first time over 3G connections.

The National Geographic Channel have built a community of viewers who aspire to be National Geographic photographers. The Nat Geo Snap app harnesses this desire giving users the chance to have their photography featured on-air on the three National Geographic Channel stations and viewed by other fans and contributors from within the app. Uniquely, users are alerted to photography challenges both from social media integrated into the app and on the three National Geographic Channel stations and are given the opportunity to contribute and shape weekly programming content.

 

 

The Amazing Race Game - Vodafone - Vodafone

We helped our client Vodafone become the hero sponsor of the first Australian series of The Amazing Race, by creating a smart phone app that allowed itchy-footed fans to run an Amazing Race of their very own. Using their smart phones, people collected and dropped virtual markers all over Australia, to earn points and redeem them for a heap of great prizes. Over 5,000 people spent a combined total of 21,779 hours, running their own Amazing Race over the five week period.
