Project Overview

Pamela Anderson, one of the sexiest and most talked about women on the planet, has graced more magazine covers worldwide than any star in living memory. Generations of men have fantasised about her.

Wake up with Pamela is an alarm clock with a difference. Every morning, Pamela's voice will rouse you from your sleep. Roll over and feast your eyes on the iPhone screen as the world famous curves of Pamela Anderson, wrapped in Agent Provocateur lingerie, appear from beneath the sheets. An early morning wake up call, Pamela delivers playful, sensual and flirtatious sweet nothings.

Project Brief

Alarm clocks are things that people grow to hate. Rather than make another clock to jolt people awake in the morning, we decided to make waking up an experience that people would look forward to.

We started thinking about the sort of things that people love to wake up to. We kept returning to the question: Who wouldn’t want to wake up beside a beautiful lady?

Given the international appeal of the iPhone, we needed an international superstar to make it happen - Pamela Anderson was the only choice.

Soon after, we organised a photo shoot in London.

Project Innovation / Need

Data has suggested that new generations of people are not using bedside alarm clocks anymore. Given that they carry their smartphones with them everywhere, they instead use the alarm features that come included on the phones, such as the iPhone.

Wake up with Pamela was created before the idea of loony novelty alarms, in the early days of iOS development. It has stood the test of time, and has been updated as new features have been introduced into iOS.

Additionally, the iPhone has a high resolution screen that surpasses all other smartphones and alarm clocks. It made sense to use it to the best of its capabilities. Why not have a little more fun in the morning with such a gorgeous display?

User Experience

In order to keep the experience positive, we collaborated with Pamela to make the alarms playful, humorous, and exciting. There was a lot of work involved in making sure that the alarms could be easily set and answered, and balancing this with alarms that are interesting and fun so as not to be ignored or dismissed.

The app needed to take into account the intended global audience. In doing so, the user interface was made as simple as possible. We used familiar interface elements, such as the well recognised top bar and simple icons, to make the app smooth and effortless.
