This app will allow you to report a sexual assault anonymously to the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault. A summary of anonymous data will be sent regularly to the police to enable them to identify trends and target problem areas. This app will allow you to report a sexual assault anonymously to the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault. A summary of anonymous data will be sent regularly to the police to enable them to identify trends and target problem areas. By doing this we hope to make our community a safer place for everyone.
Project Need
This app and website allow people to report a sexual assualt in a less formal way. The information submitted to the app is then sent to police by SECASA. In this way trends and other valuable data is not lost. It allows people to report someone they think is a danger to the community. It also allows people who are finding it difficult to discuss their assault to break their silence.
User Experience
Reporting can be done either via the app or by using the S.A.R.A. website. Feedback from users is that once they have filled in the app and 'broken their silence' some have gone on to report the incident formally. Others have also contacted SECASA for counselling.
Project Marketing
We use postcards which have been distributed widely via AVANT cards and our networks. We had a media campaign when we first launched the app and there has been follow up media over the past 15 months. We also promote the app via our online presence and the manager blogs about the app.
Project Privacy
The app does not have a user's details unless they specifically choose to provide them.
S.A.R.A.is configured to use SSL Hi Grade encryption across the whole site and through communication within the app, all information transported from the user to the database is fully encrypted. We also encrypt specific sensitive data within the stabase storage itself.
